Working on a Custom Order/ New Items

Okay, This week has been soooo slow in my Etsy shop. This has encouraged me even further to get going on my web site. I am having issues figuring out some of the technical things on it. It is a website tonight thing from GoDaddy. I'm ready to give up on this one and go back to the one I started on Weebly.com. I have been working on a custom order this week. It is for a mother of a bride. I am stressing about this one because I want it to be perfect. I finished some of the jewelry, but still have a bracelet and possibly a necklace left to do. Also, would love to show you a new pair of earrings I listed on Etsy. My first and successful try at oxidizing sterling silver.

This is my first time oxidizing sterling silver and love how it turned out. Here are the instructions I went by:
1. Boil an egg or two dependng on how much silver your oxidizing. Boil for 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Peal eggs. Put in a plastic tupperware container.
3. Smash the eggs up.
4. Put your items, which should be hung on a earring holder or something that will suspend the items above the eggs, in the container with the eggs. You can put the items directly in the eggs, but suspending eliminates the clean up hassle.
5. Cover with Lid
6. Leave it for a few hours or overnight depending on the result you are looking for. The earrings pictured above were left in overnight.
7. If you like them darker, repeat the steps above.
8. Buff with steel wool until you reach the desired look. Buffing will lighten and rough up the outer areas keeping the crevices dark. This gives an aged look. I didn't buff the earrings above, because I love the way they look as is.

I would love to hear any new and unique ways others oxidize their metal. I have some brass dragonflies that I want to age and am looking for a home method for doing this. I am not into all of the harsh aging chemicals on the market.

I have been distant from my blog lately and appologize. I am so excited. Yesterday I booked a trip to Las Vegas. So if you are a customer of mine I will be away from April 7th through April 10th. I will be back on Etsy the 11th. Feel free to purchase from my shop during this time. Keep in mind I will not be shipping or answering my convos during this period.
Today I would love to show you some of my new items. Currently I have 423 items listed on Etsy. I just can't stop creating. I get such enjoyment out of it and have gone a little overboard. This is great for my customers because they have a ton of different items to choose from.

Migraines! Help! / Project Runway/ New Items

I know this is a weird post, but I have some things to talk about.
I am dealing with some horrendous migraines. Lately it's been 4 or 5 a month minimum. I used to take excedrin at the start of a migraine. It used to help a little, but not any more. I was just prescribed maxalt. I had a migraine the night before last and took one of these pills. Well it didn't work. I am beside myself. Does anyone have any self help ideas? These migraines are always severe in nature. I usually throw up and end up very sick. I cry every time. Looking for help.

On the subject of Project Runway. I am thrilled that Christian Siriano won! He is an awesome designer and very deserving of this. From the beginning I thought it would be either Christian or Romi. I would love to have either one of these guys design something for me.

Take a look at these new items! The dragonfly necklace pictured has sold. I will be listing another one soon just like it. This will be a limited edition. A total of eight will be created and sold. This one was the second. The third will be listed within the next few days.

Made 3 Sales Today!

Forget what I said in my last post about sales. Today has been great so far. I have already made 3 sales! The day is not over, hopefully there's more. Sales are a Little Slow Lately/ Forums out of control!

Okay, I've been selling a few items here and a few items there. I actually made two separate sales on Saturday. Despite this, I've found that sales have slowed a little bit. I don't know if it's because I'm spending less time in the forums. The thing with the Etsy forums is that too many times people jump to conclusions and bash the person posting. Someone should be allowed to post their opinions, as long as they are being respectful, without people jumping all over them. A few days ago, not sure of the exact day, I had posted a response to something. When I posted there was about 23 pages or so already. I read some of the posts but not all. It was 23 pages long for goodness sakes! I thought I had an idea what was going on so I posted. I didn't say anything bad or hurtful, but got jumped on a little. I was so upset I wanted to cry. I told myself, I'm going to avoid the help section for the most part and stick to the simple things such as techniques and materials or business and marketing. These areas tend to be less controversial. There something about that help section. I found lately, like in the last few months or so, there is too much disrespect going on in these forums. It is so bad that I have actually thought about leaving Etsy. The thought of this makes me sad, because I actually love Etsy. I don't think people should get disrespected for having an opinion. This is a free country! Also, please don't accuse people of things when they are not present to defend themselves. It's completely unfair. Also, if your going to accuse someone of breaking the rules don't post it in the forums. This encourages the gang up on the person who can't defend themselves mentality. Anyway, I hope that my not posting in the forums as much is not affecting my sales. I am curious on what others think about this. I know I am not the only one that sees this. I have seen other blogs where the forum issue is discussed. Anyway, I say live and let live. TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED!!! Okay, I am done ranting now. Thanks for listening (reading). :)
