Yeah! I have sold 5 items in my Etsy shop within the last 2 or three days. I'm finding that people love the vintage brass look, and especially the dragonflies. I love the look too and am going to keep making them. Here are some new items, which were photographed in a new way. Do you see the difference in these pictures and some of my previous ones? I made a homemade lightbox and it's like a night and day difference. I wish I would have done that a long time ago! The pictures turned out sooo nice in comparison to the previous pics. Thanks for looking!

I signed up with a new site where I can sell my jewelry. It is called Icraft.ca. I will be selling the majority of my items in my Etsy shop, but am going to put a few items on Icraft to see how it goes. It's a very cool site. They have some really nice and easy to use features. It's still very small, getting their feet off the ground. Everyone has to start somewhere. The pictures show my first listed item.

Dragonflies

I've developed a new love for dragonflies in my jewelry. Okay, it's not just the dragonflies, it's also the vintage look I get from the brass findings and vintage pieces. I've made a few items lately using the dragonflies. I made dragonfly with opal earrings and these sold pretty quick. They look just like this necklace with the opal pendant pictured here. This necklace is one of my favorite items. For this necklace I used the opal pendant, a filigree wrap with it, and added a dragonfly. Pendant hangs from brass chain. Also attached to chain, moonstone and Swarovski crystals. Clasp is brass, lobster style. This necklace is for sale right now in my Etsy shop for the nice price of $28.

The first necklace pictured is wire wrapped with oxidized brass wire. I used turquoise beads and carnelian briolettes. At the center of this necklace is a large dragonfly pendant. It is also for sale in my Etsy shop for the nice price of $26.

I welcome any comments or ideas. Thanks!

Well, my dog Betsy came out of her surgery just fine. She is doing so much better without that bump on her.
Here are some newly listed items. The opal dragonfly earrings have sold, but I will be listing another pair soon. The dragonfly necklace and matching earrings were just listed in my Etsy shop.

My Little Betsy Girl - Please Pray for Her

Betsy is my precious dog. She is the black one pictured in front. The dog behind her is Max, her son. The girl in the picture is my lovely daughter. The cat's name is Walks on Top, but we call him Kitty. I have another dog, a chihuahua, named Smudge and another cat named Smooch. Anyway, Betsy has to have surgery on Monday. She has large tumor on her chest. I am sooooo worried. We have had her for almost 13 years, since she was a tiny puppy. She is so much a part of our family, that we would be devastated if she were to go. Her son Max is about 9 and he can't be away from her for a minute. He would be a sad guy too. She is so healthy other than the mass on her chest. She's got a lot of life left to live. Has anyone else had something like this with their dog? If so, what was it? I'm shocked at how rapidly this mass has grown. It grew very large practically over night. It is getting larger by the day. I have been waiting, with lots of stress, for my tax return so I could pay for the surgery. Monday I will drop her off at the vet's office 8:30 and pick her up around 5:00. I have a pit in my stomach worrying about it. Any of you out there that have pets know how I feel. So I am asking that anyone who reads this, pray for Betsy.
Thank you! :)

Your Vote Counts!

I am not hugely into politics, but feel it is so important to keep up on what our politicians are doing. We do have a say in who runs our government. There are many many people out there that complain about this politician or that politician. Or maybe it's specific issues that people are more concerned with. We all have a right to be concerned. I have a problem when it's non voters complaining. Not voting shows that you don't care. So please remember to vote. Your vote does count!

If you love the earrings pictured above, they are available in my Etsy shop. Here is the link: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9428687

Feel free to voice your opinions. Thanks!

Ways to Promote

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9376034

Ideas for Promoting:

This is something that is talked about a lot in the forums. Although, I am not an expert on the subject, I have learned a lot about it and why it is so important. When I first started selling on Etsy I figured I would just list and wait. Well, obviously this didn't work. It took me a long time to figure it out. I started in March of 07 and captured my ah ha moment towards the middle to end of November 07. Since changing my strategy I've been selling a lot since then. I feel I've been successful! I learned a lot from others on Etsy. Some of the things I've learned that work are:
1.) Promoting outside of Etsy is equally if not more important than promoting within Etsy.
2.) Outside promotion ideas are flickr, photoshop, or any other photosharing site.
3.) Make a simple and free website or blog. A lot of Etsy sellers bring people to them through their blogs. This is not my strongest area though.
4.) Participate in the Etsy forums as much as possible. Not only are you getting your name out there, your having fun too.
5.) Make up some business cards or you can get 250 free ones made through VistaPrint. Give these to anyone and everyone. Include them in your orders, which is something I forget to do sometimes.
6.) List and renew every day. I try to do 4 or 5 listings and renewals every day. This keeps your shop new and fresh.
7.) If you have any other ideas, feel free to add them to this list.
